A conference was held at the occasion of Earth Day at the University of Debrecen on 22 of April 2010. The aim is the organisers to win the “Green University” title.
This aim led the establishment of the seperate waste collection in the Uni area. The organisers are planning green programmes and want to strenghten the environmental awareness of the students and uni workers.
On the current event the public was able to participate lectures of environmental development, Tisza Programme, renewable energy resourches and about Hungary’s first electric car in the recently renovated Auditorium Maximum of the Main Building of the Uni.
The visitors could see the award winning electric car of the students of the Faculty ofTechnology which proved to be the fastest in the 2. International Electric car race in Miskolc.
The next academic year the faculty will provide training for themanufacturing and maintenance of intelligent, electric motor vehicles.
The event was the first significant movement of the recently organized Environment Committee of the Student Council.
