A uniform European e-signature protocol will be in focus at the assembly meeting of the Council of the Notariats of the European Union (CNUE) in Budapest on September 16-17, the Hungarian Chamber of Notaries said.

The event will be attended by representatives of 26 countries with Hungary holding the rotating presidency of the CNUE this year, the chamber said. One of the main goals of the Hungarian presidency is to create a uniform European electronic signature, accepted by all member states, and to promote the sole use of electronic notarial deeds, it said. “The main objective of the Hungarian Presidency is to monitor and study these new technical developments and related EU projects and to find the most appropriate ones that can further improve the efficiency and quality of our services, thus contributing to the recovery of the European economy and the interests of our clients,” Ádám Tóth, the president of CNUE, said on the body’s website. Set up in Brussels in 1993, the CNUE represents over 40,000 notaries of the EU.
